Pilot Suspected To Take Part in the Fake Arms Deal Arrested At JKIA

A pilot suspected to have taken part in the scam involving the Sh39 billion military equipment has been arrested by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Saturday, following stop orders.

The pilot, Subow Mohamed Ahmed, working with a local Aviation company was arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

On Saturday morning, detectives based at JKI pounced on Mohamed at the airport this according to DCI.

DCI posted on its official twitter handle, “On the strength of a stop order issued by DCI headquarters’ investigations bureau, detectives based at JKIA have arrested Subow Mohamed Ahmed,”

The DCI added, “Subow is wanted in connection with Investigations into the Sh39 billion fake arms deal,”

The arrest comes after George Kinoti DCI boss promised to quiz culprits linked to the scandal however, the role played by the pilot in the scandal was not clear.

The murder of an AP officer who was on duty when former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa visited Deputy President William Ruto’s office over the fake deal, Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei made investigations into the scandal difficult.

The sergeant was murdered prior to his appearance in court concerning the scandal.

In February, Echesa faced charges involving the alleged fraudulent arms deal but he denied all charges and described them as having been instigated politically instigated.

Echesa made an appearance before Lucas Onyina the JKIA’s Chief Magistrate and his lawyers denied the claim that the Sh39 billion case was recovered in his car.
