APA Insurance and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) have partnered to provide financial literacy training for Kenyan women.

The program, known as “APA SHEild,” will increase women’s access to reasonably priced financial products.

In addition, workshops and webinars will be offered to them, giving women the information and resources they need to support their own and their careers’ financial security and development.

“By providing a comprehensive range of resources through Health, Wellness, Wealth and Protection SHEild, we aim to improve the well-being and livelihoods of women, ultimately contributing to the country’s social and economic development,” APA CEO Catherine Karimi said.

Amena Arif, the IFC Country Manager for Kenya, stated that women are vital to the economy’s growth and that their welfare is a top priority.

“IFC and APA are working together to make tailored insurance more accessible and affordable for women in Kenya so that women have the financial products they need to take charge of their lives and future,” Arif said.

A variety of women-focused non-life and life insurance solutions, such as wealth, protection, wellness, and health, as well as additional value-added goods and services that offer more assistance when required, have been developed by APA as part of the program.

This involves working with YuBuntu on the “APA Femina Plus” women’s cancer care program, which aims to provide access to routine screenings and HPV vaccinations for the prevention of breast and cervical cancer.

The World Bank estimates that women head 31% of Kenyan households.

Women often have less access to coping mechanisms and are more susceptible to both financial and physical shocks.

Women can better protect themselves, their families, their communities, and society by getting insurance and receiving financial advice.
