WhatsApp has developed a feature that will allow users to exit groups without notifying other members in the chat.

The feature that is yet to be released will only let the user and group admins know that they have exited the chat.

“The feature will surely be released on WhatsApp beta for Android and IOS in the future. But this feature is under development on WhatsApp Desktop beta at the moment and it is planned to be rolled out to users in a future update,” said WhatsApp in a statement.

The new feature was first spotted by independent WhatsApp experts WABetaInfo, which searches early beta versions of the app to identify upcoming features before they are released.

The experts obtained a screenshot of a WhatsApp beta on desktop that shows an exit prompt reading: “Only you and group admins will be notified that you left the group,”

Usually, when you join or exit a group, WhatsApp adds a system message in the chat to inform all participants. However, the new feature will cease to announce exits to all participants.

Other features that are yet to be released are large file sharing of upto 2GB and bigger group calls of up to 32 participants.

Admins will also soon be able to “Delete for everyone” messages in groups for moderation reasons.
