Christmas Day is a day to celebrate the birth of Christ and share smiles with those around us. The Optiven Foundation took smiles to the villagers of Londiani this time, Kipsirichet village. A 12-year-old girl became yet another of the many beneficiaries of wheelchair donations by the Optiven Foundation under the initiative Mobility That Brings Smiles.

The initiative under the Promotion of Health had donated over a thousand wheelchairs since 2019. Our other pillars include Poverty Eradication where we build homes for the elderly, Environmental Protection where we practice best practices to conserve the environment as well as Promotion of education where we sponsor high school students among other activities.

The mother of the little girl thanked Optiven Foundation for transforming their lives for the better, saying that now she can be able to fend for the family with ease.“She is not able to sit without being supported, let alone stand or walk. But with the help of the wheelchair from the Optiven Foundation she is now able to sit as well as move,” the mother said happily.

The villagers were not left behind as they also came to celebrate with the family. Many commented that the wheelchair could not have come at a better time and that it was the best Christmas gift that the family could have received.

Mr. George Wachiuri, the chairman of the Optiven Foundation thanked all the stakeholders and well partners of the organization. He also invited other philanthropists to donate to this initiative in order to make the lives of the differently-abled a little easier.
