Is it Too Early to Cancel the Tokyo Summer Olympics?

Japanese Health minister Katsunobo Kato is still skeptical on whether to cancel the Olympics scheduled for Tokyo 2020 following the coronavirus paramedic.

Kato on Tuesday said that it is too early to think and talk about canceling the Tokyo Summer Olympics.

The event scheduled to start on July 24th raises questions whether the Olympics should be cancelled or moved as coronavirus is spread in Japan.

The Tokyo mass participation race is the only one cancelled while the rest are taking place.

The 38,000 participants who registered for the mass registration that’s saw it being cancelled will have to abide by the rules for their own safety.

Only the elite marathon runners taking part -176 athletes and 30 wheelchair athletes will participate. The race acts as an Olympic trial for Japanese marathon runners.

On the other hand, the Nagoya’s Women Marathon scheduled for March 8 will have only the elites as runners.

Kato comments came forth when he was asked about the views during a news conference.

Although such events attract a lot of individuals worldwide there’s nothing to be done with the current situation.

The public marathon and related events were expected to attract almost 40,000 people which would have generated foreign income for Japan.
