Individual farms and organizations across the country will profit from the reimbursement, which is part of a reward program run by the company.

The funds will be distributed to participants in the program who have supplied the company with raw milk for six months between December 1, 2022, and May 31, 2019.

Farmers were rewarded for reaching milk supply goals in terms of quantity and quality, according to a statement from Emmanuel Kabaki, General Manager for milk procurement at Brookside.

“The beneficiary farmer groups and individual suppliers signed up for our reward scheme and were given raw milk supply targets, for both quantity and quality,” he said, adding that the reward was a recognition for the farmer’s toil over the six months.

Kabaki added that the agreement strengthened their already strong working relationship with the 160,000 raw milk suppliers they had around the country and increased the supply of high-quality milk, allowing them to increase their market share for high-value goods.

The quantity and quality of milk delivered to the processor have increased throughout that time, with this year’s intakes increasing by 27% above amounts supplied at a comparable time last year.

Brookside has also been training dairy cooperative officials on best management practices to enhance corporate governance in its milk supply groups.

“Involving our farmers in the quest to provide the best quality milk is mandatory,” Kabaki said.
