Glovo, the on-demand delivery company has made plans to extend its operations to Kisumu and Eldoret this month.

This move is part of Glovo’s strategic expansion as it intends to operate in all major cities in the country.

Residents in Kisumu and Eldoret will soon be able to enjoy free delivery from top partners KFC, Java and Naivas as part of Glovo’s launch campaign.

“We are very excited about these launches in Eldoret and Kisumu, which represents a key part of plan, to bring out our world-class delivery service to as many potential users a possible,” said Priscilla Muhiu. General Manager for Glovo Kenya.

The expansion follows Glovo’s launch in Uganda last October. Following operations in Kampala, the service has now expanded its footprint across Africa with Uganda being the second country in East Africa and the fifth country in Africa for the firm.

Glovo is currently in partnership with Carrefour Supermarkets in a month-long campaign called Black Friday. Through the campaign, Glovo customers are offered huge discounts over the weekends in November, a move targeted at extending its services to Carrefour customers and also new clientele.

With origins in Barcelona, the company operates in over 650 cities in 23 countries across Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Glovo entered Africa in 2018, with Kenya being the second country for the continent after Morocco.

It is a multi-category on-demand platform that allows users to order anything with a simple tap on their smartphone. The company is entirely focused on helping customers with their immediate needs in busy cities around the world.

Customers can order anything that fits in a motorbike and will be delivered to them by a specialist Glovo rider, called a Glover.

Items include groceries, restaurant food from partners such as Java and KFC as well as local food restaurants.

Food is delivered in a triple layer multi-compartment thermally insulated bag that ensures hot food arrives steaming and ice cream cold, even in the same delivery.

Customers can also use the platform to request a rider to send or collect packages while tracking their rider. Whatever they order should be with them in under 45 minutes and if it takes over an hour, the delivery is free.
