They are more popular in offices use because they are more formal in design and functionality as compared to curtains.  Some of their functions include;

  • Total privacy. Blackout blinds to block light and visibility completely. In offices, they can be used in meeting rooms that are used for video conferencing. For homes, they can be used in bathroom windows or bedroom windows where curtains allow lots of light in. For example where the bedroom window is near a security light.
  • Light and heat filtration. Sunscreen window blinds help in minimizing the amount of light, heat and glare from the sun. All these while allowing natural light to come and allowing you to see through.
  • Partial Privacy. There are window blinds that blocks visibility while allowing light in. They give you a chance to control the amount of light that comes in. They also block heat from the sun.
  • Aesthetics and branding.

The designs to choose from range from vertical blinds, roller blinds, and zebra blinds, also known as sheer roller blinds. For each of the designs, there are a variety of colors and patterns to choose from.

They all have different properties and prices which are all explained in detail in the website.

  1. Window Films

Window film is a very thin laminate paper made of polyethylene terephthalate and it is pasted on the glass surface of either buildings or automobiles.

Window films come in different textures and thickness depending on their technical performance which includes;

  • Security and safety. They make sure that once a glass break it does not shatter. This protects people from cuts and other injuries. The thicker films and if used in multiple layers offers burglar protection. There are clear ones with no color or pattern ideal for shops where you want the glass to remain clear for proper display of the products.
  • Solar protection, heat and glare reduction. The reflective films do reflect excess light and heat and block UV rays making your workplace a cool place to work from.
  • There are blackouts which blocks light and visibility completely, frosted window films which block visibility but allow light to pass and one-way, which allows you to see out but not to be seen.
  • Branding and decoration. Some window films can have your logo printed or cut out. You can also choose a particular pattern for wall your branches and let your customers identify you by that.

Window films are great option for a smaller room where use of curtains would make the room look even smaller.

  1. Wallpapers in Kenya

Ruby Interiors Ltd prides herself as a lead supplier of wallpapers in Kenya. Wallpapers have gained popularity in the field of interior design because of their ability to transform a space in a short period of time and on a tight budget. This is because they offer a quick, affordable and convenient way of decorating your space.

With the advice of an interior designer, one can decide on where and when to use a wallpaper, paint or combine the two.

Some of the reason why we use wallpapers are;

  • When you want to add texture and depth on the wall. For example when you use 3D wall murals with a look of nature like forest, waterfall, the sky, the added depth to your space.
  • When you want to highlight the focal wall by using something that stands out from the other walls. For example bricks wallpapers are preferred for glamming the TV wall. This is because they give the wall a beautiful and natural look.
  • When comparing with paint, you can choose a wallpaper when you don’t have enough time to prepare the wall for painting. Or when you don’t enough time to wait for the paint to dry and the smell of paint to disappear.
  • In a rented house where you can do less about the walls, you can use wallpaper to hide imperfect walls. You know that those walls with cracks, as long as they are not a health hazard.
