Tala Appoints Annstella Mumbi as General Manager for Kenya

Annstella Mumbi has taken on a significant role as the General Manager of Tala, Kenya’s largest non-bank lender. 

She’s among a selected few women leading major tech companies in Kenya. Before her promotion, Mumbi served as Tala’s Global Director of Growth and as the Interim General Manager for Kenya. 

With a ten-year background in fintech, EdTech, and venture capital, she’s led key business functions in several African countries.

Mumbi’s journey started with a bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). During her three years at Tala, she showcased strong leadership skills and expanded her role over time. 

Tala’s Chief Business Officer, Jori Pearsall, expressed confidence in Mumbi’s ability to unite the Kenya team, envision growth, and navigate Tala towards becoming a full-service financial services provider in the coming year.

As the new General Manager, Mumbi will lead a team of 130 Talazens in Kenya, driving progress through innovation and partnerships, all while keeping Kenyan customers at the forefront. 

This appointment signals a remarkable step forward for both Mumbi and Tala’s future plans, underlining the importance of her role in the company’s evolution.
