In the nine months leading up to September of this year, the number of passengers flying with Jambojet increased by 23 percent to 779,000, supported by a rebounding aviation industry.

Between January and September 2022, this increased from 599,830 during the same time frame the previous year.

According to the low-cost airline, it was able to accomplish the aforementioned by boosting flight frequencies on important routes in response to the rising demand for air travel.

“We remain committed to providing a reliable, affordable service and adhering to the highest safety standards while offering products and services that respond to customer needs,” said Karanja Ndegwa, Jambojet Managing Director and CEO.

53 percent of passengers travel for work, while 23 percent do it for leisure, according to a recent Jambojet survey.

The remaining percentages include 1 percent for medical reasons, 17 percent for visiting family and friends, and 4 percent for studies.

It’s noteworthy that the percentage of first-time passengers on Jambojet increased by 44% from 30% in 2014.

Currently, the airline offers nine daily frequencies between Nairobi and Mombasa, five between Kisumu and Eldoret, four or five between Malindi and Diani, and just one between Lamu and Nairobi.

Additionally, the airline offers daily direct flights between Mombasa, Kisumu, and Eldoret in addition to its four weekly flights from Nairobi to Goma in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

“When we initially started Jambojet we set out on a mission to open up the skies and grow the numbers of those traveling by air. Nine years later, 44% of the flying population in Kenya flew for the first time with Jambojet,” Karanja added.

“Our aim is to expand the markets we fly to and increase the flight frequencies between destinations as we seek continuous growth in the aviation sector.”
