KQ Delays in Landing As Sierra Leone Suffers Panic of Corona Virus

Kenya Airways airplane spent some time in the air following a delay on matters landing in Sierra Leone  Lungi International Airport on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, causing panic in Sierra Leone, which lacks cases of coronavirus.

KQ flight to Sierra Leone was carrying four Japanese nationals with one being reported as showcasing symptoms of coronavirus. The case was informed by KQ manager in Liberia who alerted Sierra Leone authorities.

The plane had to spend some time in the air to allow the authorities to prepare for appropriate measures and activities. After touch-down, some of the passengers declined quarantine.

The Japanese nationals were not allowed to disembark and they were flown to an unspecified location. This is according to the ministry of health official in Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone has no confirmed cases of coronavirus pandemic.

Even so, the government has put up measures in place in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Health.

While addressing the nation, President Julius Maada Bio called for a review of everyday life and urged citizens to report any symptoms of the viral disease to health officials through the toll number 117.
