How to Fuliza na Mpesa, Everything you Need to Know

We have all been there, that moment you wanted to buy something or send someone some money but you didn’t have enough cash in your Mpesa. The good news is, with Fuliza by Safaricom you can complete your transaction even when you don’t have sufficient cash in your account.

Fuliza is a bank overdraft product of NCBA offered through Mpesa.  The service allows you to send money to someone of pay for goods through Lipa na Mpesa and settle the loan later. You could say it is the Okoa Jahazi of Lipa na Mpesa.

Before you can Fuliza money to someone or pay a bill, there are a few requirements for using Fuliza:

1. You must have been a registered M-pesa customer and must have an active Safaricom line.
2. You must have been an active Mpesa user for the past 6 months to use Fuliza service
3. You must continue using Safaricom and M-pesa services often and repay your Fuliza on time to grow your Fuliza Mpesa limit.
4. You must repay any funds received; any money deposited in your Mpesa account will automatically be used to clear your outstanding Fuliza Mpesa.

How to activate and become a Fuliza user:

This is how to opt in Fuliza.

Dial *234# from your Safaricom line, or use Safaricom app to opt into the service.

Select ‘Fuliza M-pesa’ to opt in.

How to Fuliza in two ways;

1. How to Fuliza money to another number – When sending money to registered and unregistered M-pesa users; after confirming the number and amount you are sending, if you have Insufficient cash, you will receive a pop-up notification asking if you would like to Fuliza the outstanding amount at a given access fee and daily fee. To proceed click yes.
2. How to Fuliza Paybill Number or Till Number – When making payments, after confirming the Till number or Paybill number and amount, you will receive a pop-up notification asking if you would like to Fuliza the outstanding amount at a given access fee and daily fee. To proceed click yes.

Note: You will only receive the pop-up notification if the outstanding amount is within your Fuliza Limit, for most beginners that limit is Ksh 500. To grow this limit, continue using Mpesa and Safaricom services frequently.

How do I Fuliza to my number?

You cannot Fuliza to the number you are using to request the Fuliza service, you can however Fuliza to another number you own or to a friend.

How to withdraw from Fuliza.

At the moment, you cannot withdraw money on your Fuliza balance. However, to withdraw your Fuliza, you can send the money to someone then tell them to withdraw for you.

How to Fuliza Airtime  

At the moment you cannot Fuliza airtime to your number or to someone else’s. You can however use Ting to Fuliza airtime to your number or to another number.

Dial *369# and select ‘Buy Airtime’ then choose to buy for your number or for another number.  To Fuliza to your number you can also Lipa na Mpesa using the till number 609633.

How to check Fuliza Limit

To check your Fuliza limit, dial *234# select ‘Fuliza Mpesa’ and choose ‘Check My Limit.’
