In a conference conducted in Burkina Faso, it was voted that Kenya will host the Network of Africa Data Protection Authorities (NADPA) general assembly scheduled for next year.

Kenya has also been elected to the position of vice chair, alongside Niger and Angola.

The trio is anticipated to lead the NADPA, a grouping of various African counterfeit authorities, for three years.

“Kenya hosting NADPA general assembly is so significant. We are excited to take up this new role,” said the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) Commissioner Immaculate Kassait.

Kassait noted that the office of the data protection commissioner has received a total of 2,675 complaints involving data infringement, including 857 acknowledged complaints, while updating the media stakeholders on the nation hosting the following NADPA annual general assembly.

The ODPC added that the country had received accreditation to take part in the Global Privacy Assembly.

The Global International Assembly is an international conference of data protection and privacy commissioners.

The assembly assumes leadership in data protection and privacy on an international level.
