This year’s Clean Cooking Week will take place in Nakuru to increase access to sustainable and clean cooking in Kenya.

The event is being organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum (MoEP), the Clean Cooking Association of Kenya (CCAK), and other major stakeholders.

The function will be hosted at the Nyayo Gardens till October 26, 2023, with the subject ‘Delivery of clean cooking innovations towards universal access to clean cooking solutions: Invest, Innovate, Involve, and Transform’.

There are currently 2.4 billion people without access to clean cooking, which has a negative impact on gender equality, the environment, climate change, and public health.

Kenya has set an ambitious target to provide contemporary cooking solutions to all people by 2028, but the country’s clean cooking industry is still trailing behind.

The Ministry of Health links household air pollution from traditional cooking methods to over 23,000 deaths each year.

Since its founding in 2012, the non-profit business membership organization CCAK has led Kenya’s advocacy for clean cooking solutions.

In addition to developing the ability of their members and stakeholders to hasten the shift to the widespread use of clean and efficient cooking solutions, they collaborate with the public and private sectors as well as development partners to establish favorable policies and market conditions.

In order to promote clean cooking solutions, the 2023 Clean Cooking Week will maintain its fruitful collaboration with the MoEP and important stakeholders.

The purpose of this event is to accelerate access to clean cooking by 2028 through information sharing, conversations with county and national governments, and media engagement.

The week’s main objectives are to encourage groundbreaking developments in clean cooking solutions, encourage funding for the cooking industry, and honor outstanding project planning and budgeting.

It is anticipated that 400 people will attend the event.
