Owing to the expansion of its codeshare agreement with Delta Airlines, Kenya Airways (KQ) customers flying to North America will now have seamless access to over 57 cities in the U.S. and Canada.

The expanded agreement, which started on August 5, 2023, will allow return customers to effortlessly connect to more than thirty-one destinations in Africa offered by both carriers, according to the carrier’s managing director and chief executive officer Allan Kilavuka.

“The expansion of the codeshare is historic as it not only allows KQ to expand its footprint in the U.S. but also significant because it provides seamless connectivity on a single ticket for those travelling for business, leisure or studies into the U.S. while giving seamless connectivity to those visiting Africa through JFK and KQ’s hub at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi.” Kilavuka said.

The expanded codeshare arrangement, according to Alain Bellemare, president of Delta International, would accommodate the exceptional rise in demand as well as the carrier’s priority to strengthen (its) presence across the African continent.

“At a time when we are seeing unprecedented demand for travel between North America and Africa, expanding our strategic partnership with Kenya Airways offers our customers more travel options as well as supports our,” Bellemare said.

Currently, KQ offers daily flights via JFK International Airport in New York from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to the United States.

Since 2006, Delta has run nonstop flights from Africa to the US through Accra, Ghana; Dakar, Senegal; Cape Town and Johannesburg in South Africa; and Lagos, Nigeria.
