Dubai based start-up Maser is planning to expand into East African Market, Kenya being the most potential market to offer its affordable TV sets and open up stores.

Last year, the firm expanded its services to UAE to better serve private and public sector entities in the Middle East and Africa from its warehousing hub in Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone.

The firm received 200,000 units of milestone sales from UAE within 1 year.

The increase in demand gave them hope for more expansion of the industry in African markets including Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi. This came after the sector experienced strong sales and sustained growth from Jebel Ali Area.

“The response which we got after redistributing from Jebel Ali Area encouraged us to expand to African markets like Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi. Kenya was one of the places where customers approached us through email and direct contact and for that reason, we understood the high market potential of Kenya,” Chief Executive of Maser Prateek Suri explained.

In 2020, the startup has received approval for funding from a UK based private finance company to invest in a state of the art which is a 100% export facility. The funding was majorly meant to boost its manufacturing capacity and meet the growing customer demand.

Suri also says that LED TV’s was the first product to be rolled out and distributed into tier 2 and 3 cities across the Middle East and Africa. “Our vision has been to make them so affordable that each home could have a big-screen LED TV and enjoy their favorite channels at home. For example, you can buy a Maser TV of 40 inches for the price of Sony TV of 32 inches.”

The company has a product portfolio that spans LED televisions, display televisions for outdoor use, home theatre systems and soundbars. He later expanded the portfolio after receiving positive feedbacks from the customers to include audio systems and air conditioners.

“I founded the firm as a dynamic start-up driven by technological innovation and a passion to make high-quality products that can adapt to future technological changes” he added.

Mr. Suri intends to open up an office in Kenya and other outlets to create some jobs for local peoples in Kenya to benefit.
