Uhuru Cancels Sh. 22.2 billion Kimwarer Dam Project

President Uhuru Kenyatta has ordered for cancellation of Sh. 22.2 billion Kimwarer Dam project.

According to a statement made by the state house spokesperson Kanze Dena on Wednesday, the decision was arrived by a technical committee chaired by the president and which had been tasked with investigation into irregularities that had centered the project.

After evaluation, the committee established concluded that the project was overpriced and it is neither technically nor financially viable. The committee is also said to have established that no current feasibility study had been conducted on the dam project.

Based on the committee’s report, the last feasibility survey conducted with regards to setting up a similar groundwork was done 28 years ago and it found the project not practicable.
