Safaricom customers can now purchase two new Neon smartphones under the company’s Lipa Mdogo Mdogo program, which allows customers to pay as they go on a daily or weekly basis.

Neon Smarta and Neon Ultra, enhanced versions of the phone, are among the new options.

According to the telco, the inclusion of the two brands will allow more people to reasonably access the internet.

“We are keen to enable more Kenyans enjoy the transformative power of the internet by availing affordable 4G devices through Lipa Mdogo Mdogo, which has already empowered over 1 million Kenyans to upgrade from 2G featurephones,” its CEO Peter Ndegwa said.

“We also continue to invest in our network to provide our customers with the best connectivity across the country,” Ndegwa added.

The Lipa Mdogo Mdogo solution was introduced in 2020 to enhance 4G usage in the country.

Since then, Safaricom has collaborated with manufacturers such as Transsion, Samsung, and Nokia to expand the pay-as-you-go service to include more devices.

The smartphones include Google Apps such as Search, Maps, Gmail, and YouTube.
