Tuesday will see the official opening of Kerugoya General Hospital and the launch of a housing project, both of which will be led by President William Ruto.

Last month, Kirinyaga County demolished old buildings belonging to the defunct County Council of Kirinyaga to pave the way for the project at Kerugoya town.

The President will be in Kirinyaga, according to Emmanuel Talam, the State House press secretary, who spoke to one local daily.

The freshly erected hospital (Kerugoya general hospital), according to Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, will provide residents with specialist medical services.

“The county government has built a modern hospital at Kerogoya which will improve health services in the county. The date for the launch has been set and confirmed,” Waiguru said.

She said that the 356-bed facility will ease hospital inpatient congestion.

The governor continued by noting that the hospital had been raised from level 4 to level 5 by the medical complex, meaning that residents would no longer have to go far for care.

“The hospital is of National Standards, and comes with a Cancer Centre unit, High Dependency Unit ( HDU) Accidents Centre, Paediatric and Maternal wards,” Waiguru noted.

According to Gatanga MP Edward Muriu, President Ruto plans to tour the Mount Kenya region and announce major projects.

He pointed out that the Kenya Kwanza government intends to remodel the populace by fostering their commercial endeavors.

He mentions the housing project, saying how devoted President Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, are to it.

He claimed that a big section of the population in Kenya lacks access to affordable and good housing, contributing to the country’s significant housing shortage.

“The housing project aims to bridge this gap by providing affordable housing options for Kenyans, particularly those in low-income brackets. This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to improving the living standards of its citizens,” he said.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa, and MPs Kimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu), and Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), among others, are anticipated to accompany the president.
