Following Rebecca Miano’s resignation in October of last year, the Kenya Electricity Generating Company (Kengen) has started looking for a new managing director and chief executive officer.

After being appointed Cabinet Secretary for the East African Community, Arid, and Semi-Arid Lands, and Regional Development, Miano exited the role.

Abraham Serem has been assuming the role in an acting capacity since she left.

In an advert published in the local dailies, Kengen invited applications from suitable candidates to fill the position to drive its development and long-term success.

“Reporting to the Board of directors, the job holder will be responsible for providing strategic and visionary leadership and full operational responsibility in the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategic business plans approved by the board in order to achieve the company’s mandate,” the advert read.

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, membership in a professional association, and at least 15 years of experience in a large organization—five of those years at the executive management level—will be requirements for the position.

Appointment to the position will be on a contract term of three years, renewable once, subject to performance and retirement age.

“The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package in accordance with the company policy,” Kengen said.

Candidates suitable for the role have been asked to submit their applications before May 15 by 5 pm to the Office of the Board Chairman on the 10th floor of Kengen Pension Plaza II or to email address executiverecruitment@kengen.co.ke.
