On Wednesday, advocates for clean air will ride bicycles and stroll through Nairobi’s Central Business District to bring attention to the fatal effects of air pollution on the city’s residents.

The Nairobi Ride4Life aims to support non-motorized transportation policies and infrastructure as well as other initiatives to lessen traffic and air pollution.

The leading cause of death and illness in Nairobi, according to experts, is respiratory disease, which is exacerbated worse by air pollution.

The main contributors to that pollution are vehicles, motorbikes, and trucks.

Nairobi residents can help clean up the city’s air by using non-motorized transportation like bicycles, walking, and other non-motorized modes of transportation to get around the city.

This occurs at the same time as Nairobi joined other cities across the world in observing the international Air Quality Awareness Week, which runs from May 1 to May 5.

The World Resources Institute in Nairobi is organizing the event, which is being sponsored by Clean Air Catalyst and USAID.
