Ten more counties have signed up for MyCountyApp, which will enable them to increase their income collection through a single app.

Through digitization, the Safaricom app aims to empower devolved entities to centralise services.

Machakos was the first county to participate in the program during its pilot period last year.

Nairobi, Uasin Gishu, Samburu, Bomet, Narok, Kitui, Busia, Kilifi, Elgeyo Marakwet, and Kajiado are among the new signatories.

Digitising devolution is a collaborative strategy that brings the public and commercial sectors together to serve all Kenyans.

“With guidance from the leadership of various counties, Safaricom is integrating the MyCounty App channels to the various systems,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO, Safaricom, during the ongoing Devolution Conference in Eldoret.

Safaricom also pledged to collaborate on IT security and related cyber security principles, its own source of revenue, increasing knowledge management through the Maarifa Centre, CSR initiatives, and capacity building, among other areas of partnership.

“This MoU represents more than just a partnership, it symbolizes a shared vision for a better tomorrow. By embracing collaboration, we are not just creating pathways for progress; we are building bridges that will allow us to overcome challenges together,” added Ndegwa.
