Web-based games have been launched by the gaming and digital technology company Viral Gorrrila to teach kids social skills, financial literacy, lessons from the school curriculum, and African history and culture.

Primary school pupils in grades one through six are the target audience for the mobile web-based edutainment game platform.

The platform, dubbed “AMUA,” which is Swahili for “decide,” is testing a set of 10 games and animated stories called “Kitu and Her Nomadic Family” that are meant to teach kids valuable lessons as they travel across Africa on an enjoyable vacation in the sun.

As they play, players will become fully immersed in the history, culture, and tales of several African countries.

Each game played unlocks a new chapter of the story and unveils fresh mysteries through the players’ journeys.

“Our games are colorful, they have music, and they require physical interactions, not like sitting and just listening to a teacher for hours,” Viral Gorrrila founder and CEO Joyce Muthoni said.

“The kids learn by DOING, and that is so much more powerful. Amua Games are one-on-one interactions directly with each child, tailoring the content in the game specifically to the grade level of that child.”
