Eveready East Africa has appointed Thomas Mong’are Masaki, Sameer Management Limited Finance as the acting Managing Director. This is following the exit of Margaret Odhiambo.

The battery distributor, in a statement made on Tuesday, said that the appointment will take immediate effect when the board recruits a substantive head. Former MD Odhiambo has been serving as the head of corporate Services before being appointed as the MD. She has been in the company for a solid 12 years.

According to the firm’s board, Ms Odhiambo had played an integral part in implementing Phase 1 of the Company’s recovery strategy as the only one of the seven female CEOs in the NSE. In February 2019, Ms Odhiambo took over from Jackson Mutua becoming the firm’s first female MD. According to Jackson Mutua, he quit following a decline in profits.

“In her tenure, the company has recorded tremendous organic growth in its new growth drivers and through it achieved consistent year-on-year improvement in the bottom line position, ”Eveready said.

Mr.Masaki, the new Eveready MD served as a manager in finance in Sameer Group. He has also served on boards such as Aristocrats Concrete and Yana oil.
