Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) has opened a new branch in Mombasa in a new expansion plan.

The bank has opened its 66th branch in Likoni Mall as well as its 65th outlet at Greenspan Mall in Nairobi.

The Coastal branch, it said, seeks to serve the growing number of customers in Mombasa, starting from the island to the South Coast.

“Our presence in this region is a big part of our growth strategy which is why we have embarked on expanding our access. We are confident that the economy will improve, and that’s why we are making investments for the long-term,” DTB Board Chairman Linus Gitahi said while opening the new branch in Likoni on Tuesday.

Mombasa is becoming a target market for companies as well as banks, seeking to tap its growing working-class community, businesses as well as tourism industry.

Its popularity has attracted leading financial institutions such as the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), Equity Bank, among others.

“Using research and our experience, we are keen on setting up branches like these, where our customers can come in and talk to us as we explore ways of supporting each other,” DTB Group Chief Executive Officer Nasim Devji said.

“We are expanding into fast-growing regions as we recognise that a tier one bank must be as close to its customers as possible,” Devji added.
