Jumia, commonly referred as the “the Amazon of Africa”, has shut down its e-commerce business in Tanzania. In a statement released on Thursday, in a period which is less two weeks after cutting Cameroon loose.

“As part of our ongoing portfolio optimization effort, Jumia has come to the difficult decision to cease our operations in Tanzania effective on November 27,” the company said in a statement.

With majority of Jumia’s goods’ prices being slashed up to more that 50%, there is an ongoing black November sale where everybody is a winner and the consumer is kept satisfied.

Jumia connects consumers with sellers as it is a consumer goods e-commerce retail platform.

The company is also a payment service, which facilitates transactions among participants active and Jumia’s platform in selected markets and also a logistics service, which enables the shipment and delivery of packages from sellers to consumers.
