Equity Wins Big in 2021 Banking Award

Equity Bank Kenya received 22 accolades in the 2021 Banking Awards held virtually by Think Business, earning them the position of leading bank in Kenya.

Equity won the Best Overall Bank in Kenya for the 10th year in a row and Best Bank in Sustainable CSR for the 5th year running.

The lender also won first position in 10 other categories which included Best Tier 1 Bank, Best Bank in Agriculture and Livestock Financing¸ Best Bank in Trade Finance, Best Bank in Mobile Banking and Best Bank in Asset Finance. The bank also won Best Bank in Agency Banking, Internet Banking, Product Innovation, Best Commercial Bank in Microfinance and the Bank with the lowest charge for individuals.

It also took the Special Judges Award for Product Innovation for the Kenya Cereal Enhancement Programme Climate Resilient Agricultural Livelihoods Window (KCEP-CRAL) and took 1st runner up position in categories including Best Bank to borrow from, Best Bank in SME Banking and Best Bank in Mortgage Financing.

Upon their win, Equity Bank Managing Director, Gerald Warui said that the awards has “reinforced their position in the market as a bank that customers trust” and one that “listens and cares for customers and enables businesses to grow and thrive.” He added that Equity is a progressive bank that is responsive to the market and puts its customer’s needs first and it offers self-service digital solutions.

The Banking Awards by Think Business, which has been running for the past 16 years, are organized in a bid to help the public make informed banking decisions.
