The Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association has organized a cricket tournament called the African Premier League Tournament that is set to start from 25th of March to 10th April 2021 at Ruaraka Sports Club, Nairobi.

“It’s a good gesture for us to come back the field to be able to play cricket, something we have missed for the last one year because of the COVID regulations,” said Tom Tikolo, NPCA chairman.

The league will contain 6 teams comprising of players selected by the association. After one round of round-robin matches, 2 semi-finals will be played on the 9th of April, 2021. The league is set to adhere to international rules set by ICC and has compiled COVID-19 safety regulations that are to be strictly followed. To ensure the integrity of the league, NPCA has also appointed the Anti-corruption team that will report directly to them.

The opening game will be between Nairobi Lions and Mombasa Rhinos at 9;30am on the 25th of March. The other 4 teams that will be participating in the tournament include Kisumu Pythons, Thika Hippos, Eldoret Elephants, and Nakuru Leopards.
