Tea growers have been reassured by Agriculture Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mithika Linturi that the government is taking the required steps to increase their yield and income.

At a consultative meeting with the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) Board of Directors on Tuesday at Kilimo House, Linturi informed the directors that the ministry is dedicated to collaborating with them for the advantage of farmers and the entire nation.

According to Linturi, the ministry has already developed plans to increase the productivity of the tea industry by putting in place a number of measures, such as giving farmers subsidies for fertilizer, establishing orthodox tea lines, and creating common user facilities for value addition.

The KTDA Board of Directors, headed by Chairman David Muni Ichoho and Managing Director Wilson Muthaura, along with key representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, attended the meeting.

The Ministry of Agriculture supports working together with the Council of Governors to ensure that every household in Kenya has an adequate supply of food. The CS stated that all other relevant parties are welcome to join in this effort to fulfill the pledge of ensuring food security for all.
