Twitter has noted that its work-from-home measures during the lockdown had been a success and therefore it will allow its staff to work from home “forever” if they wish.

“The past few months have proven we can make that work. So if our employees are in a role and situation that enables them to work from home and they want to continue to do so forever, we will make that happen,” said chief executive officer Jack Dorsey said in a company-wide email Tuesday.

The resolution comes at a time when Twitter is making plans for the future after the coronavirus pandemic.

While the decision gives workers a choice to work from home, Twitter said it will allow those who wish to return to the office when it reopens but with some additional precautions.

“When we do decide to open offices, it also won’t be a snap back to the way it was before,” the company said adding “It will be careful, intentional, office by office and gradual.”

The San Francisco based company which employee’s more than 4,000 people across its global offices, is among companies like Google and Facebook said their staff can work from home until the end of the year.
