Kenya Reports 396 Covid-19 Cases as 12 More Test Positive

12 more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Kenya on Thursday, April 30, 2020, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 396.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman announced the updates following testing of 777 new samples taken from 14 counties. 9 of the new patients are males while 3 are female.

In total, 20,268 coronavirus tests have been carried out in the country.

Out of the 12 positive cases announced on Thursday,  7 were picked by the government’s surveillance team and 5 are from designated quarantine centers.

7 of the new cases are in Mombasa, 3 in Nairobi while Kitui and Wajir counties have 1 each. The case in Wajir was its first since the disease was confirmed in the country.

The ministry announced 2 more deaths bringing a total number of deaths to 17. 15 more patients were discharged bringing the total number of discharged patients to 144.

Mombasa’s cases were recorded in Kuze (Old Town), which accounted for four, and in Bondeni, Bomani, and Kidunguni, which accounted for one each.

Nairobi’s cases were in Eastleigh, Fedha, and Kileleshwa.

Thursday also marked the highest number of recoveries today at 15 rising the total number of recoveries to 14.

Further, the CAS announced that 2 more patients succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of deaths to 17.
