The world’s 4th richest man, billionaire Bill Gates, has shared an ambitious plan to stop a recurring of last year’s hardships by investing in pandemic preparedness. The billionaire philanthropist is springing into action tens of billions of dollars of annual spending to make this achievable.

“Pandemic preparedness must be taken as seriously as we take the threat of war,” wrote Bill and Melinda Gates on their annual publication. His strategy set to help prevent the next pandemic is by providing massive testing, global alert systems and a team of 2,000 trained “first responders.”

Vaccine delivery is partial, as wealthy countries are increasingly pumping in vaccines day by day to fight the virus. Gates envisions by the time the next pandemic arrives, he wishes to see, “mega-diagnostic platforms, which could test as much as 20% of the global population every week.”

According to the billionaire philanthropist, the messenger RNA vaccines are a basis for major progress, in the growth on new shots for the next 5 years. He believes that with technology, diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria and HIV can be defeated.

“Until vaccines reach everyone, new clusters of diseases will keep popping up,” said Melinda Gates. Melinda wrote that one of the concerns is the threat of “immunity inequality,” where only the rich can acquire the vaccines. She adds that the clusters will continue to grow and spread resulting to schools and offices shutting down again. Thus, the cycle of inequality will continue.
