The 42nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of pan-African housing financier Shelter Afrique will take place in Nigeria and endorse new reforms.

Themed ‘Political Economy in the Built Environment – Housing Market Dynamics and Political Economy of the Housing Sector’, the event will take place between the 8th to 11th at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, Nigeria.

A ministerial roundtable and related business activities will also be on the agenda.

“It is essential to understand the interactions between the main stakeholders that have shaped the housing production and delivery value chain, as well as what is at stake at each of the critical stages throughout the value chain,” Shelter Afrique Managing Director & CEO Thierno-Habib Hann said.

“In so doing, hence our theme for this year’s AGM and Housing Symposium,” he added.

“It is equally crucial to explore the incentive mechanisms facing the main stakeholders in the housing value chain as well as the induced outcomes in terms of the provision of decent and affordable housing for everyone.”

The meeting will be held in the West African country for the second time in recent years.

Daniel Garwe, the Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities for Zimbabwe, will hand over the presidency of the Shelter Afrique (AGM) Bureau to Fashola during the AGM.

More than 200 guests, including the ministers of finance and housing from the 44 member states, as well as representatives from the public and private sectors of the housing industry, as well as other governmental and non-governmental organizations, are anticipated to participate.

A sustainable housing delivery system and associated infrastructure projects are needed in Africa, hence African governments established Shelter-Afrique, a pan-African housing finance and development organisation.

44 African nations, the African Development Bank, the African Re-Insurance Corporation, and the Fonds de Solidarité Africain (FSA) are among the company’s shareholders.
