Retail chain Carrefour has appointed Christophe Orcet as its new Country Manager, taking over from Frank Moreau.

Orcet previously held the position of Head of Operations and Commercial at MAF Carrefour in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

His hiring coincides with the retailer’s efforts to increase its presence in East Africa.

Currently, Carrefour runs 19 stores around the nation, 15 of which are in Nairobi. Kisumu and Mombasa each have two stores.

The Hub, Village Market, Galleria Shopping Mall, Sarit Centre, Junction Mall, Thika Road Mall, Two Rivers Mall, and Southfields Mall are among the locations where the stores are located.

Others include Kisumu’s United Mall and Kilimani Shopping Center, Nairobi’s Valley Arcade and Kilimani, Nyali’s City Mall and Diani’s Center Point Mall, and Kisumu’s Mega Plaza and United Mall.

It opened its first store at the Comet House in November of last year with the intention of attracting clients from Nairobi’s CBD.

The new store, which is situated along Monrovia Street, sells a variety of commodities including consumer goods, cleaning supplies, toiletries, and fresh produce like fruits and vegetables.
