Former Nairobi Deputy Governor, Polycarp Igathe, has resigned from his role as the Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Vivo Energy, the firm said on Saturday.

In an internal announcement by Vivo Energy CEO Christian Chammas, Mr. Igathe decided to quit his position and pursue other interests.

“We thank Polycarp Igathe for his contribution to Vivo Energy and wish him the very best in the future,” the statement read in part.

The company’s vice president of retail, CR strategy, and projects, Mr. Omar Benson, will act in Igathe’s position as the company seeks to fill it in.

Mr. Igathe formerly worked as the managing director of the Vivo Energy Kenya 2017 when he left to join Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko in forming Nairobi County’s second government, a position he resigned in January 2018.

Later in 2018, Equity Bank Group appointed Mr. Igathe as the managing director of Equity Bank Kenya where he was reporting to the group’s chief executive James Mwangi. A year later, Vivo energy created an Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing role which they appointed Mr. Igathe to lead staring September 1, 2019, prompting him to resign from Equity Bank.

Igathe had previously worked at Haco (the consumer goods manufacturer), Coca-Cola, Africa Online and Kenya Breweries Limited.
