NSE is Sub Saharan Africa’s Best Performing Stock Market

Nairobi stock exchange market has emerged the best performing stock market in Sub Saharan Africa in the last ten years beating its giant rivals such Johannesburg Stock Exchange and Nigerian Stock exchange. This is according to a new report by MSCI Inc.

The Nairobi benchmark index went up by 74% in the last ten years, while its rival Johannesburg Stock Exchange increased by 9% only. In contrast, the Nigerian Stock Market benchmark index declined by about 59% in the period under review.

Kenya’s stock market is set to link up with six African exchanges in an effort to increase activity on the stock market’s is a member of the African Securities Exchanges Association. According to the Association’s leader Karim Haji, stockbrokers on the Nairobi Exchange will be able to place orders on the Casablanca Exchange, Egyptian Bourse, Exchange of Mauritius, the Abidjan Exchange, Nigerian Stock Exchange and Johannesburg Stock Exchange and vice versa starting from 2021.
