Following the resignation of Joel Karubiu, who joined the organization in 2019, the Kenya Network Information Centre (KeNIC), the organization in charge of the registration and issue of the dot ke domain, has named Andrew Mwanyota Lewela as its new CEO with effect from February 1.

Prior to his employment, Mr. Lewela directed the growth of a technology and government affairs consultancy practice at the IT company Sambali Group Limited.

Additionally, he has previously worked as a project management lecturer at Kenya Methodist University.

“He is an experienced digital economy and public policy professional with a wealth of experience in software/technology sales, country marketing/positioning, strategic planning, project management, government affairs, and product development, having spent over 18 years in various roles within the public and private sectors,” said KeNIC in a statement.

“Some of the organizations that have shaped Andrew’s career include the ICT Authority, Safaricom, Oracle, International Trade Centre, and Cellulant.”

Lewela is a graduate of Strathmore University with a Graduate Diploma in Management Information Systems and a Master of Commerce from Deakin University. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Nairobi.
