Andrew Chimphondah, the managing director of Shelter Afrique, has been fired with immediate effect, Financial Afrik has learned from reliable sources. Kingsley Muwowo, the CFO, will take over until the vacancy in power is announced and a new director is appointed.

This is the outcome of a tense board meeting that lasted late into the evening on Thursday, February 17, 2022. Andrew Chimphondah, who is of Zimbabwean origin, had his management tarnished by a series of scandals, which resulted in the termination of his mandate, which had been set to expire in 2024. The Financial Afrik scandals are also at the root of the dismissal of former Chairman of the Board, Dr. Steve Mainda, in December 2021.

The managing director was let go by the board of directors after being the subject of a motion of censure signed by seven executive directors on January 31.

Its only ally, the Cameroonian Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Célestine Ketcha Courtès, who seized the council by mail late at night, undoubtedly alerted by the Cameroonian administrator present in the board, was unable to change the course of events and postpone the decision to leave or stay until the general assemblies that the principal concerned wanted to hold in his country, Zimbabwe, next July, in the hope of hypothetical diplomatic support.

Furthermore, Andrew Chimphondah arrived this morning, obstructing the passage to his office.
