In order to expand its international operations, Amazon Web Services (AWS) on Wednesday inaugurated a development center in Nairobi, Kenya.

William Ruto, the president of Kenya, Megan Whitman, the US ambassador to Kenya, representatives from Amazon, and other government officials launched the Center.

Software development, support services, retail operations, and other crucial tasks are centralized in the Amazon Development Center (ADC). It serves as the company’s backbone and produces the main source of income.

ADCs are found everywhere. Depending on where it is and what it is used for, an ADC’s particular roles and responsibilities can change. The Nairobi site will house research and development teams creating new solutions for clients and partners worldwide, claims AWS.

The Development Center is anticipated to supply solutions for AWS customers and partners worldwide while also creating new, highly skilled jobs in the fields of telecommunications, software development, cloud support, and software engineering.

The first group of engineers employed at the Center was situated in Cape Town, South Africa, where the business maintains a facility of a similar nature.

AWS has recently expanded its presence in Africa by establishing a location in Kenya alongside other multinational corporations.

AWS and the Information Communication Technology (ICT) Authority announced plans to use AWS Academy to upskill 10,000 Kenyan students in April 2023. The Academy offers free, ready-to-teach cloud computing curricula to higher education institutions, enabling students to earn industry-recognized AWS Certifications and in-demand careers.
