iZone Corps, a Minnesota-based black-owned business, has launched a community-led process called “iZone Training” to reimagine public safety in the City of Minneapolis, with the goal of creating a public safety training system that fosters trust and works for everyone.

The company’s mission is to pave the way toward a more just and equitable city by utilizing a boutique-style approach to meeting the broader community’s needs. Its primary objectives are education, training, and research, all of which are guided by the conviction that community members should be involved in developing public safety solutions.

The training courses are intended to assist police officers and cities in dreaming bigger in order to foster trust and benefit everyone. Each course and training system was developed with resident input to help iZone achieve its ultimate goal of healing, rebuilding, and strengthening Minneapolis. Izone intends to conduct seminars to assist students in developing their ability to comprehend and manage emotions, as well as to teach students how to deescalate potentially volatile situations and cultivate leadership skills. This comes as global rates of mental illness continue to rise.

The mission of Izone’s Training is to ensure public safety by developing outstanding police leaders who are more responsive to public needs. Izone accomplishes this through collaboration with nationally recognized experts in public safety, community engagement, and social justice.

iZone is uniquely qualified to provide insight into the potential role of the police in fostering community safety due to their combined expertise in community safety.

The immigrant-led business has created a three-tiered public safety strategy that includes strengthening the training system, developing alternative crisis intervention training, and investing in a more accountable division. Izone offers four distinct formats for training.

To begin, a virtual community engagement training session will be held via Zoom. Second, hosting in-person training sessions for police-community engagement. Thirdly, hosting customized training in remote locations; and finally, managing consulting projects in physical locations.

Izone is a prototypical firebrand attempting to make a name for himself in the field of public safety. It is committed to promoting a just and equitable city in order to increase community members’ safety.
