The first Rent a Shelf Hub in Thika has been launched at Alisa Plaza, Second Floor along Kwame Nkrumah Rd.

The hub is aiming at boosting startups and franchise businesses through numerous benefits and solutions for the major challenges of starting up online ventures.

Targeting different startup groups and small business owners including employees and side hustles, the Shelf Hub is ensuring that the starters don’t pay for goodwill, rent, shop attendants and all shop overheads inclusive of electricity and water bills which they would have had to pay in other Shelf Hubs.

According to the Founder, Naomy Omuka, Rent a Shelf Hub Thika is ensuring that interested investors spend the least Capital while enjoying maximum benefits. “We are giving you a physical location for your business, pick up and drop off points for your clients, coordinating your deliveries and renting a shelf space for you,” she told Inversk.

The entrepreneur told says the Shelf spaces prices range from Sh 2,500 to Sh4,000 per month depending on the amount of space required and the kind of products being sold. “Shelf space for products like honey and peanut butter costs Sh 3,000 while space for other goods like duvets and flower vases goes for  Sh 3,500. For a boutique, one will have to part with Sh 4,000 because we have to consider enough space for changing rooms and placement of mannequins to display the outfits.”

Naomy adds that for the creative corner where artworks such as paintings and handiworks are displayed, one will need to pay Sh 3,000 per month.

She also told Inversk that the Shelf Hub is beneficial as it gives most online businesses a physical presence and thus more credibility. “The Shelf Hub not only targets online entrepreneurs but also career women and men who might be too busy for their businesses  and entrepreneurs abroad who want to conduct their businesses in Kenya as she conducts the ventures  on their behalf.”

Naomy asserts for one to acquire a space with her, their businesses should be legal and certified by Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) to be considered for the Shelf Hub. She plans on expanding to other parts of the Country like Mombasa and Kisumu once the business is at its peak.

Rent a Shelf Hub opened its doors on 1st July 2021, and held a launch party on 3rd July 2021.
