Country Manager of Carrefour Kenya, Franck Moreau, has ascertained that the two new branches in Kisumu will open in July and August respectively.

This comes after the French retail store’s management remained non-committal in regards to the official period of operation kick-off of its Kisumu outlets.

Speaking during a courtesy meeting with Kisumu County Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, the Country manager said the two stores will create direct and indirect jobs for over 200 residents in Kisumu.

“This will take form through expanded supply opportunities for local farmers and manufacturers and a wider market choice for customers,” Moreau stated.

“The stores will offer, upon opening a continuous assortment focusing on fast-moving consumer goods(FMCG)at Carrefour prices,” he noted.

Moreau added that Carrefour’s continuous commitment to contribute towards the Kenyan community is reflected in the increase of job opportunities for the local communities where they operate.

“As a true testament to uplifting those around us, more than 200 Kisumu residents will benefit from the opening of the two stores through direct and indirect job opportunities,” Moreau noted.

The opening of two outlets in Kisumu will bring the total number of Carrefour stores in Kenya to 15  with 11 in Nairobi and 2 in Mombasa.

Earlier this year, Carrefour opened a  store in Westage Mall, Westlands which apart from serving residents in Westlands, Parklands, and the larger Thigiri area, will also introduce several digital services such as shopping delivery or ‘valet trolley’ which will have customers shopping and collecting their goods at the store.

Other recently opened stores include one in Kwale County at the Diani Centre Point Plaza and another at the Nextgen Mall along Mombasa road in Nairobi.

The two branches of Carrefour are strategically located at United Mall along the Kisumu-Kakamega highway and in Mega Plaza in the CBD respectively.
