How to Apply and Renew a Business Permit Online in Nairobi

Business permits usually serve the main purpose of identification and registration of a business. They prove the legality of the business and usually allow the county government to collect tax.

Before you apply, ensure you have the following:

  • Nairobi County business permit application form
  • Copy of the identification card
  • Copy of the certificate of incorporation
  • Copy of the company pin certificate
  • An approved business permit application form
  • A payment permit invoice
  • Business name
  • The physical address of the business and the registration number of the business.

To begin, you need to create an E-payment account:

  • Visit the Nairobi County online portal, also called the NCCG payment portal.
  • Click on Sign up to create an account
  • Key in your full name, valid email address, mobile number, and unique password.
  • Click on the section written, “Create Account,” and your account will be activated.

You can now apply for a business permit by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official NCCG payment portal
  2. Login using the email you registered with and the password cis chosen earlier
  3. Locate the Services section click on the segment written “Single business permit”
  4. A new section will be displayed click register a new business
  5. Fill in all the mandatory information, which include the KRA PIN and details about your business
  6. Key in all the required information on the business owner, for example, your name, ID, and mobile number.
  7. Fill in details concerning the business activity. This includes the number of employees, where the business is located and the size of the business.
  8. Cross-check that all details are correct and click “finish
  9. Pay the required permit fee
  10. You will then receive a confirmation text from Nairobi County that your payment has been received and your document is ready to use

To renew a business permit, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Nairobi County portal
  2. Click the Single Business Permit section
  3. Click renew SBP
  4. Login using the same email and password added in activating your repayment account. A first-time applicant has to sign up.
  5. Add the business number/ID listed on your license
  6. Select update business details and enter all missing information
  7. Verify all the information added and click next
  8. Pay the fees stipulated via M-Pesa or bank
  9. After a few minutes, check to confirm that the Nairobi City County single business permit is ready for download.
