RwandaAir Suspends its Flights to China

RwandAir flights to and from China have been suspended by until further notice owing to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

In a statement on Friday, the airline said, “RwandAir has temporarily suspended all flights to and from Guangzhou effective January 31, 2020, until further notice. This follows the declaration by a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by the World Health Organization concerning the coronavirus outbreak,”

The airline advised that affected passengers would be refunded, rerouted or allowed to change their tickets to much later date.

The decision is set to be reviewed in February.

The suspension does not affect flight between Kigali and Mumbai.

Kenya Airways, its Kenyan counterpart, has also had flights to and from Guangzhou, China suspended due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Kenya Airways said, “We have temporarily suspended all flights to and from Guangzhou starting Friday 31 January 2020, until further notice,”

So far, the coronavirus has been responsible for killing 213 people in China and spread to 18 countries worldwide.
