Amazon Web Services (AWS), has acquired Safaricom as its new reseller through a strategic agreement, this, as per the Kenyan Telco.

The Telco, through a statement, made a note concerning the agreement where it clarified that the agreement is designed to accelerate its ‘internal IT transformation, lower costs and provide it with a blueprint and skilled resources to assist customers with their journey to the cloud.’

This has taken place shortly after the announced plans to establish a new edge location in Nairobi in November 2019, by the cloud computing arms of the US E-Commerce giant Amazon.

Additionally, East-African customers will be able to receive AWS services from Safaricom which will allow businesses of all sizes to quickly get started on AWS cloud and accelerate innovation.

Also, Safaricom made an announcement that it has joined Amazon’s global partner program AWS Partner Network (APN), a program designed for technology and consulting businesses who leverage AWS to build solutions and services for customers.
