President Uhuru Kenyatta today in a press conference, says he plans of vaccinating 26 million Kenyan adult population before 2022. He says the plan is set to begin on August 2021 by vaccinating 150,000 people daily.

This accelerated plan is said to be possible due to the negotiation between the government and Johnson and Johnson. For the price of 10 million vaccines, the country will be receiving 13 million vaccines.

“Using these vaccines and others in the pipelines, this is how we will vaccinate Over 10 million Kenyans by Christmas 2021 and 26 million by end of 2022,” said President Uhuru.

The government is also keeping in mind the vaccination of the under-age population and theirs is set for early next year.

When there is a population of 30 million vaccinated people, set for the next 12 months, the plan of Herd immunity will have been executed.

Herd Immunity is said to be followed parallel to herd instinct which means educating people about the virus and vaccine. Due to the various theories and misconceptions, the President urges the Inter-faith council to work with the private sector and civic associations, ‘to take up vaccine education and to be a central plank of the upcoming vaccination drive.’
