Following its cabinet’s approval, the Rwandan government has waived visa fees for African visitors.
Visa entry requirements to the citizen member states of the African Union, Francophone Nations, and the commonwealth were dropped by the cabinet in a meeting held on Friday, March 6.
The move is set to boost tourism in the African Union since it implies that Africans will be able to visit Rwanda without visa fees being levied on them. Rwanda is among the few African countries that allow visa-free entry.
Before this, only Angola, Benin, CAR, Burundi, Chad, DRC, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Mauritius, Senegal, Sao Tome and Principe, Seychelles, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda were exempt from paying visa fees.
